The PCAS is located on the main road from Pudukkottai to Pattukottai, via Alangudi.Established in the Year 2016, Pushkaram College of Agriculture Sciences is affiliated to the erstwhile TamilNadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore. It is situated at Thiruvarankulam, Pudukkottai, adjacent to TNAU Research Centre and KVK at Vamban.
Ragging is a serious social indiscipline and offence. It was declared as illegal. Offence in pursuance of the Judgment of the Honourable Supreme Court of India dated 08.05.2009 in Civil Appeal No. 887/2009, the University Grants Commission has framed “UGC Regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions, 2009” which have been notified on 4th July, 2009 in the Gazette of India.
The rules are amended by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University have been strictly followed in our college as prescribed in “Extract of Tamil Nadu Government Gazette –
Extra ordinary dt.29.01.97 (Bill No.8 of 1997 Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Ragging ACT)”.
As per the Government Order, Anti-ragging cell is established in our Institute for preventing social indiscipline like ragging.
The anti-ragging oath is being taken by the students every year.
Posters displaying anti-ragging with helpline numbers are pasted in our college. Regarding hostel premises, an anti-ragging committee has been constituted by our Principal by involving teaching staff members every year.
Our Anti-ragging squad makes surprise visits to our college & hostel for confirming the comfort of the newly admitted students.
Students are warned and instructed at the beginning of the first semester about the ragging in students meeting by our faculties.
The Anti-ragging committee is formed every year to prevent ragging related issues both inside and outside of the college campus. Anti-ragging special squads are placed in student hostels to make surprise checking and counselling among the students.

Staff members of our college were assigned for anti-ragging duties throughout a day in the First year Girls’ and Boys’ hostels for monitoring the senior students as well as to address the students regarding routine activities for a period of one and a half month.

The Anti-ragging squad takes action for the formal complaints on ragging in both inside and outside of the campus.
The Anti-ragging committee enquires the ragging and submits the report to the Vice-Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University for the imposition of punishment to the raggers per provisions of the Tamil Nadu Anti-Ragging Act, the directives of the Supreme Court and the Regulations of UGC.
Anti-ragging committee was constituted at the college level with the Warden as the chairman involving the deputy wardens and year coordinators as members to look into various activities related to anti-ragging for safeguarding the fresher.
Meetings were organized for the senior students (II, III & IV years) by their year
Co-coordinators and the students were instructed not to indulge in ragging activities and indiscipline / illegal offence.
The Principal, wardens and student counselors conduct regular meetings and make some surprise check to monitor the student behaviour.
Flex Banners were displayed in hostel and college premises to state the punishment for the students who involved in ragging activities.
Supporting staff members (Residential Tutor, Mess Managers and Ward Boys) in the hostels were instructed to monitor the hostel after college hours.
The phone number of staff viz., Principal, Wardens, Deputy Wardens and Year Coordinators will be displayed in the hostels to facilitate easy contact.
Banners related to ‘Anti-ragging’ with punishment details are kept in front of Academic Building, Administrative Building and in every hostel to create awareness about the ragging offence.
Anti-ragging circular issued by TNAU is also displayed in all the Notice Boards at the time of admission.
Disciplinary action will be taken against the student who found guilty of organizing or participating directly or indirectly in ragging o r involved in illegal activities either inside the campus or outside the campus which would be against the cannons of good conduct and behaviour would bring discredit to the institution.
Those students will be expelled from the hostel and the college.
Whatsapp number of the Principal, Academic Coordinator, Staff Advisor, Warden and Deputy Wardens are provided to students for any complaints regarding ragging.
Anti-ragging complaint boxes are also available in Administrative Building, Academic Building and Student hostels
Details of anti-ragging websites are provided to students as well as staff to knows about anti ragging.
ugc.ac.in/ragging.html is frequently visited to know the updated details about anti-ragging.
Students are sensitized and advised to use this website for making complaints as well as to get awareness about ragging.
As per the Hon. Supreme Court & UGC/MHRD Regulations that all students Anti Ragging Undertaking, each year. In this regard, each student of PCAS is filing an undertaking every year ONLINE at: amanmovement.org (OR) www.antiragging.in
Meetings were also organized by police/ technical personnel to brief the students about legal measures.
Awareness meeting is conducted every year by inviting police officials DSP level to brief the students about anti-ragging.
Parent-Teachers meeting will also be organized for every senior batch of students to sensitize them about anti-ragging.

Awareness meetings were also organized to every batch of students by the Coordinator of the respective batches.
State Level Monitoring Cell meeting on anti-ragging is attended by University Officials and the minutes are circulated to all the staff members for compliance.
